Santiago de Chile, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) Postal Workers Federation of Chile declared on strike today, after more than a week of demonstrations and exhaust all the possibilities for negotiating better wages.

The indefinite strike began at 00:00 local time on Wednesday, according to a statement from the union, which calls for an increase of 45,000 pesos (about 90 dollars) in monthly salary of each worker, plus a bonus by term conflict.

One of the spokesmen of the strike quoted by radio Biobio, Oscar Villalobos, said that the monthly salary of the employees of Correos de Chile barely reaches 193,000 pesos (about 386 dollars), the current minimum wage in the country.

He stressed that the mailmen are exposed to assaults, vehicular outrages, and even dog attacks by the large number of existing dogs in the streets of many cities.

Villalobos described as fair the list of demands and said that the request meets the need of skilled workers.
