Swiss snail mail continues its slide

The number of letters sent through the mail continues to decline.

The Federal Commission for the Post says Swiss Post handled about 2 percent fewer letters last year, compared to the previous year.

It does say, however, that Switzerland still has one of the highest rates of pieces of mail per capita within Europe, with an average of 490 per year.

The Post continues to examine its operations. Post offices in six towns have currently been under scrutiny for possible closure.
