I have no idea what to do next.. help?

Post by skepticsnake »

At the beginning of my third week of employment (Monday) my Manager phoned through to Angard on a direct number and was told that I in fact had been paid that day. Earlier on that day I had checked my account to find that I had not been paid but decided to give Angard the benefit of the doubt and thought that I may have been paid later on that afternoon. Upon checking my account the next day I found that as I first thought, I had not been paid.

On Tuesday my Manager phoned again, this time passing the phone to me where I was told they did not have a record of my bank details so gave the details there and then over the phone, at which point the lady I spoke to reassured me that she would get my payment sorted as soon as possible, hopefully that very same night, if not then tomorrow. By Thursday I had still not been paid.

Thursday night my Manager again phoned the direct line, and passed the phone over to me where the woman explained that she would be receiving a spreadsheet that evening with a list of 10,000 names that were to be paid that night and that she would give me a call back in around an hour to let me know if my name was on that list. By now it was not a surprise that when she did get back to me, my name was not on the list. She then told me that she would get someone to organise an emergence BACS payment into my bank account anywhere between 0600 and 1700 on Friday.
Friday came and went without any money being paid into my account.

Throughout the process I have been lied to by Angard, firstly being told I had already been paid, when it later came to fruition that they did not even have a record of my bank details, which makes me wonder by week 3 how were they expecting to pay me. In addition I have yet to be given any explanation as to why only 10,000 names were on that list where seemingly thousands of other employees were waiting to be paid.

On the Monday of the fourth week of my employment I had decided I was no longer prepared to work when I was not being paid for doing so and attended work on the Monday to let my Manager know I would not be turning up for work from that day onwards. On that Monday I did receive a giro for £350 which was too little and too late by that point after being messed around so much beforehand.

Again, I phoned Angard and spoke to a representative who took my details. I was surprised to learn that he had no idea where I worked, for how long, nor my rate of pay. Again I was reassured that I would get the money owed to me either later on that day or at the latest on the Friday 30th December.

Since then I have phoned Angard innumerable times and have been told and even have email confirmation that I would be paid by 11.01.12 however on this day I was only paid 1 penny. I phoned up on the 11th and was told someone in the accounts team would be contacting me soon, however 36 hours later I still had no phone call. I phone again today and surprise surprise I was told I would be paid by the end of this week. What is the likelihood of that happening then given my previous experiences!

I am at a complete loss and don't know how to go about getting my money. I need it before the end of this month as I will not be leaving the country for a year or so. Anyone have any ideas?

That's a pretty typical story. You did get £350 for four weeks work though, which is better than most. To date I have been paid £390 for six weeks work!

hello

none of us have any quick solutions but most appear to be making the calls and sending emails, then contacting moya greene (the chief exec) or completing an Employment Tribunal form. http://www.justice.gov.uk/global/forms/ ... /index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

an instant response? i think whatever route you take will take time as you will read on this forum.

good luck and enjoy your time away.

ps: contact for moya greene justsayit@royalmail.com

Thank you Britvic55, I needed to know that. I was going to wait a week before seeking action via another route.

I hope to set up a poll to find out what casuals have done regarding their wages problems.
