Government has appointed Inalytics to provide transition management advice during the sale of Royal Mail Pension Plan assets following the scheme’s nationalisation.

The Shareholder Executive, a body within the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, has appointed the transition management adviser to consult on the sale of £24.5bn of scheme assets as government starts to take over the scheme’s historic pension deficit.

“We have appointed Inalytics to provide independent advice to the Shareholder Executive on the sale of assets for the RMPP when we come to take over those assets,” a government spokesman said.

The firm specialises in assisting clients with asset transitions and manager research.

“We are absolutely delighted to be appointed and we are looking forward to working with them,” chief executive Rick Di Mascio said.

The government is set to take over Royal Mail’s £32.4bn pension liabilities in April 2012 through a new public sector pension scheme, called the Royal Mail Statutory Pension Scheme.
