Maximum distrance walked in a day?

Post by pop it in pete »

Any one of you fellow H&S bods know what would be considered too long, in terms of walking distance for the average postal worker? 8 miles for a walk 10 miles 12 miles ???? What is a reasonable distance to walk in a day?
Would it matter if you use a HCT or shared van/ LWT?
I know HCTs can only be used within a mile radius of the office start and finish of the walk. But how much are we walking each day?
Lots of questions..........................and sore feet with only a few days into new delivery methods.

I'm guessing it will be down to what is in your revision...
eg: LWT/HCT ect times by X miles per hr times by delivery span = xxxx

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

How far should an employee walk with the heavy trolly full of bundles of letters and parcels, from their office to their walk?
