To All Postal Branches With Parcelforce Members

To All Parcelforce Representatives

Dear Colleague

Parcelforce 2011 Pay Agreement – Stage 2 Joint Statement

Branches will be aware that a commitment was given in the Parcelforce 2011 Pay Agreement to the following in Stage 2:

A further consolidated remuneration sum, equivalent to a weighted average of £67 will be applied to annual basic pay, pro-rata to less than full time staff, with full flow through as applied at stage one. This will be applied on development of a list detailing a number of agreed additional progressive agenda items. Both parties are committed to the development of a list of initiatives by end of Sept 2011, which will enable PFW to achieve improved financial performance.

I am pleased to report that following discussions with the business the list of Progressive Agenda items has been agreed, thereby releasing the weighted average payment of £67 referred to.

A Joint Statement providing full details is attached for your information and you will note that it is anticipated that the increase will be applied to our member’s October salaries.

Branches and representatives are requested to please ensure that this LTB and attachment are given full publicity and our members are made aware of the information contained.

Any enquiries in relation to this LTB should be addressed to Terry Pullinger, Assistant Secretary, e-mail: dwyatt@cwu.org quoting reference number: 101.03

Yours sincerely

Terry Pullinger
Assistant Secretary

Joint statement Regarding Stage 2 of 2011 Pay Agreement

Parcelforce Worldwide and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) are pleased to confirm that following discussions under Stage 2 of the 2011 Pay Deal they have agreed a list of initiatives that will contribute to improving the financial performance of Parcelforce Worldwide.

The following initiatives will be added to the list of items on the Progressive Agenda:

Implementation of New Products through Advance Operations/IT Capability development.

Review of Security Tasks & Efficiency of Gatekeeping Operations at Coventry Hubs

Processing Efficiency to support PFW growth plans:

Warehouse – to review efficiency within the depot warehouse operation to drive improved QofS and to identify potential efficiency opportunities.

Hub – to review efficiencies within International and National Hubs to drive improved throughput and QofS and to identify potential efficiency opportunities.

Growth Plans – to discuss ways of working to support PFW’s growth plans.

Review of Bank Holiday Agreement and remuneration package.

Admin Bonus Review.

Admin Revision – to review the efficiency levels in the depots following the migration of calls with the aim of improving efficiency and identifying appropriate resourcing.

Against this backdrop it is agreed to release the payment of a further consolidated remuneration sum, equivalent to a weighted average of £67 to be applied to annual basic pay, pro rata to less than full-time staff, which will be paid in October salaries.

Furthermore Stage 2 of the pay deal also states that as these initiatives are progressed, joint discussions will take place to understand how the benefits could be shared in the form of an unconsolidated lump sum. The target for an unconsolidated lump sum per person is £400, pro rata to less than full time staff, that could be achieved at incremental stages. This is wholly dependent upon the ability of these agreed initiatives to deliver the cost savings/benefits to support this payment. Whilst £400 is our ambition both parties are committed to not only achieve this, but also recognise the potential to deliver more.

Further discussions will take place to agree how delivery of these savings/benefits will be tracked, and to agree how and when the lump sum payments will be triggered for payment.

It is recognised that this list is not exhaustive and where further opportunities are identified which would deliver benefits to the business then both parties are willing to consider introducing further initiatives.

We were talking about this tonight and were wondering if the £67 is from Oct - Apr which is 6 months and totals to £400 which is the rest of the pay deal? So instead of having a £400 lump sum they have divided the lump sum up into equal payments throughout the next 6 months?

No the £67 is the 0.4% which takes the exit rate for the 2011 pay to 3%. This was the only way the Parcelforce Board could get an above 2.6% increase past the Royal Mail Board.
The £400 is a separate payment

It's part of the full pay increase and form part of the monthly pay.
I believe there is a desire from both sides to make the payment as soon as possible, but again Parcelforce have to get it cleared by the Royal Mail Group board and they will want to know why the payment is being made and what savings have been made. Same old merry-go-round just a different day.

Got my two payslips out to compare and this is the difference:

parcelforce addition to pay: (sept) £50.55 (oct) £50.75

Basic pay: (sept) £1516.92 (oct) £1523.00

no change to first time del.

no change to driving allow.

Weekday pre-scheduled att. (sept) £9.53ph (oct) £9.57ph

hope this helps.
