Once again, the Daily Mail (The paper which supported Oswald Moseley, Franco etc) makes no mention of the number of incorrectly addressed items which, due to the integrity and unrivalled local knowledge of staff, get delivered to the intended destination. I suggest we are talking of more than 800 items a day nationally here. More like 800 items per decent sized town.

When did this happen!!!!
Quote "As for lost mail, that's also not surprising since at least once a week we get neighbours; mail and they also get a lot of ours. Royal Mail was handed a virtual monopoly when it was privatised and the lack of competition has lead to their abysmal service standards. BT is very much the same."

Same in oor office as well mate, we have been running for about 18 months with not enough staff and relying on p/t or f/t staff to slit delys.jockthearab wrote:Our gaffa was caught telling a customer on the phone ,the reason her parcel was not delivered was because
we the posties were out on strike .
But we all know the real reason its because there aint enough staff in my office to do the job .
FECK the gaffas
Also it,s the first time I heard of RM auctioning stuff off and I,ve been in the business for 20yrs.
We introduced a few extra packet duties and were promised extra vans(goes without saying) what happens, packet drivers waiting all morn for vans to return, late out, finish on time, backlog took weeks to del. and now changes in duties to accomadate these guys cos we were never getting the TOOL TO DO THE JOB ALAN...
IWW is right about all the badly addressed items that find their way,I know my customers are glad I,am a reg on duty but it,s seldom mentioned in papers. :lfo :lfo

Cheers mate! But the mysterons in our office struggle trying to read the football results. An article on libcom would leave them completely baffled!Captain Scarlet wrote:I know where you are coming from Brother Watch out for the mysterons...

Funny that - I was going to suggest that he looked like the archetypal anarchist as portrayed on the silent movies. Or the guy who ties the young maiden to the railway lines whilst twirling the ends of his moustache.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:That's Nestor Makhno. http://libcom.org/history/makhno-nestor-1889-1934 along with Durruti, http://libcom.org/history/articles/1896 ... ra-durruti he would have sorted ot Leighton and Crozier. My father in law was from the Ukraine and served with the 1st Ukrainian Division during WWII in the Panzer's. They were captured and interned in Italy before being dispersed to allied countries. Because of the cold war he was never to return to his home and sadly died before the amnesty was declared.

Oh here's an idea: Why don't these small businesses put pressure on Postcomm to force TNT, DHL, Business Post et al, to collect, sort and deliver their mail. Postwatch too, were all for this competition lark as it gives small business mail customers a choice. Silly Postcomm, Silly Postwatch, you missed out the words 'certain' and 'rich' before businesses.
I wonder, if I sent an email, and it didn't get there, could I ask for compensation from my ISP???

Q. Who exactly are the Competition?

The true state of the post
Good artical well worth reading I was talking with a dum from another off which will remain anonymous for now , who proudly told me that they failed TEN yes TEN deliveries last sat all of which did not leave the office. Asked him if it bothered him he said yes but if you have not got the staff you cannot do the job. Which has been highlighted in this artical No staff to do the job all the new intake are four hour contracts and they cannot do the job in time The biggest problem here he said was that they are trying to work under the new rules of delivery when the office and staff are not ready for it.
