More than 12,000 employees of Philippine Postal Corp. in 2,000 different post offices nationwide are calling on Malacañang to act on their delayed salaries and benefits.

Tirso Paglicawan Jr., president of the Philippine Postal Workers Union said that last May 1, 2011 a manifesto was sent by the union to the office of the President informing him of complaints at the Philpost Provident Fund Office.

“Help us please unearth the grave anomalies in our provident fund involving multi-million pesos before it becomes too late and another big fire at the Post Office just like what happened in the 1995 fire when a fire struck the Philpost Internal Audit Service at the fifth floor office building and destroyed documents and pieces of evidence,” a part of the letter Paglicwan said.

“We are still awaiting whatever actions our new leader will take, yet we are demanding for thorough and comprehensive investigations of the crimes of omission and commission of all the officers, members, and personnel of the PPFO and the officials and employees of Philpost involved in the irregularities and subject them to lifestyle check.”

Paglicawan said remittance to their premium contributions are being deducted as contribution to “Pag-IBIG, Government Service Insurance System, PhilHealth, Postal Bank, PPFO, cooperatives/employees’ associations and others are not remitted for more than seven months thus they are deprived of the benefits they should get whenever they need it.”
