f there's one thing this video of an unlucky postie can teach us, it's this: when you're popping out of your van, turn it off. Or if you have to leave the keys in the ignition, leave the handbrake on. For the love of God, leave the handbrake on...

After running out to make a delivery, the as-yet unidentified mailman returns to the car park to discover his vehicle has tried to make a break for it.

Circling round and round the parking lot, smashing into stationary cars, it's like his postie van has turned into Herbie's more deranged cousin, and hell, it's almost amusing – you know, apart from the damaged cars and so on.

But your smile may well disappear from your face as you watch what happens next – attempting to leap inside the vehicle once more, the postie gets clipped by his own van and bounces onto the tarmac.

Eventually the runaway vehicle gets caught on a stationary one and gets turned off, and within minutes the emergency services have arrived.

What's the US Postal Service's motto again? "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds," isn't it? You know what, this time we think we'll let him off...
