PostFinance is before the courts for money laundering.
The trial for the Postal Service’s financial services arm started today in Solothurn.
Back in 2005 the administrator of an investment fund withdrew nearly five million francs in cash.
That money then was transferred abroad and no trace was ever found of it again.
Solothurn prosecutors say PostFinance never should have allowed the fund’s administrator to withdraw the cash without knowing where it came from and where it was going.
It appears PostFinance employees had first flagged the case to the company’s anti-money laundering office, which apparently gave the transaction the green light.
Swiss Post says it did nothing wrong and respects Swiss law.
