LONDON (SHARECAST) - Shares in UK Mail Group took a dive on Monday afternoon after the parcels and mail group reported continued difficult trading in the fourth quarter.

UK Mail, which issued a profit warning in January after bad weather towards the end of 2010 compounded tough trading previously, said volumes have remained subdued.

“The important month of March is not expected to deliver its normal seasonal uplift in volumes,” the company said.

The company expects pre-tax profits for the year to 31 March in the region of £16m.

“The current economic conditions may continue to hinder our growth in the forthcoming financial year,” the company said.

“We remain focussed on continuing to drive down our cost base, and we believe that our strong competitive position should enable us to continue to outperform our competitors.”

Can you imagine how bad they'd be if they had to pay RM a realistic price for DSA

For "strong competitive position" read the fact that were allowed to undercut Royal Mail but make them do the lions share of the work and lose money on every item we send. They then brag they can 'outperform' us. You couldn't make it up :arrrghhh
