Communication Workers' Union leader Billy Hayes said last night: "The decision is based on political dogma, not practicality.
Labour's Kevin Brennan warned: "There are dangers of the profitable parts of Royal Mail being hived off and the less profitable bits left to suffer."
David Miliband has criticised Mr Cameron's failure to delay further deep-sea drilling after the Gulf of Mexico oil crisis. He said: "Cameron's claim that he would create the greenest Government has turned out to be greenwash of the highest order."
