Five days after the CEO of Swiss Post was sacked, longtime board member Rudolf Hug has resigned over “irreconcilable differences” with the new group leader.
Hug, 65, has served as one of the ten members of the post office’s administrative board since 1998. He told Communications Minister Moritz Leuenberger of his resignation in a letter over the weekend.
“This move is due to irreconcilable differences with the president of the board in relation to strategy and leadership,” Hug wrote. “Please respect that I am not available for further information.”
Earlier this month CEO Michel Kunz was abruptly dismissed over differences in corporate strategies. He was replaced by Claude Béglé.
Leuenberger’s office reacted cautiously to the announcement. A spokesman said the department was not surprised. Board members can serve up to 12 years, so Hug would have had to retire soon anyway.
