LTB 336/09 WASPS Development – Walk Sequencing Legacy Equipment

No. 336/2009
Ref. L19.23/535.04
Date: 20th April 2009

TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS & POSTAL DIVISIONAL REPS

For immediate circulation to all Area/Unit/Processing/Delivery Representatives

Dear Colleague

WASPS Development - Walk Sequencing Legacy Equipment

Further to the previous information circulated to advise Branches/Representatives of the upgrading that was taking place to the existing IMP/IMPEX technology in the Mail Centre Network as part of the Automation Utilisation programme.
The business has now provided us with the details of the timetable/deployment programme (copy attached) that will be used to test the server capacity for Large Machine Sequencing. You will note this contains the list of Mail Centres and their associated Delivery Offices that will be participating in the project (it should be noted that this may be subject to change).

The testing is aimed primarily at the development of Walk Automation Sequencing Planning System (WASPS) which is the replacement of the Computerised Routing for Automatic Mail Processing (CRAMP) System which currently produces the sorting and coding files for Automatic Sorting Equipment. It is not envisaged that the test programme will have any impact upon current duty structures, attendances or earnings levels. We have been assured Representatives in the test locations will be fully briefed on the activity that will be taking place which will include an element of Walk Sequencing and be provided with access to all information relating to the programme.

All enquiries regarding the content of this LTB should be addressed as appropriate to Martin Collins, Assistant Secretary Indoor Department quoting reference number L19.23 or Bob Gibson, Assistant Secretary Outdoor Department quoting reference number 535.04.

Yours sincerely

Martin Collins Bob Gibson Assistant Secretary Assistant Secretary
