So the Dutch want to buy our Post Office; business secretary Lord Peter Mandelson wants to sell it; and the consultants agree it would be a cracking good idea. The only person who seems to be speaking out against all this is Dashwood's postie. Unfortunately, his comments are unprintable.

Last week's report by Richard Hooper also supported the idea. And why not? After all it seems we can't even produce the documents these reports are printed in. Mr Hooper's report was printed by The Stationery Office, once Her Majesty's Stationery Office, but now owned by none other than Deutsche Post
