The Government has been urged to deliver an action plan to ensure local residents receive an improved service.

It comes amid a rise in the number of complaints Bromsgrove MP Bradley Thomas says he has received from residents about unreliable postal deliveries.

Bradley says some residents have missed hospital appointments because letters have not been delivered on time.

He's now questioned the minister for small business and economic transformation and urged him to get together with the management of Royal Mail and Ofcom to deliver an action plan to ensure local residents receive an improved service.

Speaking in the House of Commons on Wednesday, March 11 Bradley said: "I pay tribute to the posties across Bromsgrove, but not to the management of Royal Mail.

“My constituents need action, not more platitudes, like Royal Mail saying to me that it is “very sorry” that letters have not been received.

“I implore the Minister to get together with the management of Royal Mail and Ofcom to deliver an action plan, for which Royal Mail is accountable to us, via the Minister, so that we see an improved service for all our constituents."

Back in January, to understand the scale of the issue in Bromsgrove and the Villages, the local MP launched a survey to give residents the opportunity to have their say on the state of Royal Mail’s postal service in the constituency.

In response, the minister for small business and economic transformation, Blair McDougall MP, said: "I reassure the hon. Gentleman that I have communicated exactly the frustration that he describes, which I have heard from so many hon. Members, to Royal Mail, and I will communicate it to Ofcom later as well."
