A postwoman was punched in the stomach during a terrifying robbery. The Royal Mail worker, in her 30s, was attacked by two people in Newtown, New Mills, before they stole parcels from her van.

Police say the muggers, who 'appeared to be highway maintenance workers', then made off in a white Transit van. The attack took place on Goyt View at about 11am on Wednesday, December 17.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage. The suspects are described as a white man, of large build, in his 30s/40s, dark hair, wearing a green parker coat and a black woollen bobble hat and a white person of unknown gender, in their 30s or early 40s, wearing a grey tracksuit, a yellow hi-viz vest, and a dark coloured baseball cap.

A Glossop police spokesperson said: "Officers have been following a number of lines enquiry and are now asking for the public’s help to try and identify those involved. Of particular interest are anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage from the area at the time, as well as any drivers with dashcam footage."

But plod asking for footage a month later? I would imagine most storage systems have a limited time period they keep storage for. Also, how many white transit vans were flying around the streets just before Christmas! I can't remember what I saw on the streets last week never mind a month ago.
