It's after complaints about delayed deliveries across the district

Wakefield Council plans to contact Royal Mail after receiving complaints from residents about lengthy postal delays in parts of the district.

The local authority’s leader said she would write to the organisation after “quite a number” of postcode areas had been affected.

Julie Medford, councillor for Normanton, raised residents’ concerns at a full council on Wednesday.

She said: “We have a serious issue in our ward with postal delays and Royal Mail at the moment.

“In the past 24 hours, 25 residents have contacted me directly, plus many more through social media.

“Residents have missed hospital appointments.

“School letters, bank cards, property purchases have all been delayed.

“Businesses are being negatively affected and it’s simply not good enough.”

Coun Medford said councillors for Normanton had not received agenda reports through the post in time for the meeting.

She added: “I would like to request that the council write to the CEO of Royal Mail to express its concern and demand improvement.

“Can I just add though, the local postmen and women have been brilliant.

“I think we need to thank them for continuing in difficult times.

Council leader Denise Jeffery replied: “I was at a meeting last night where it was raised.

“Different postcodes across this district are struggling with mail, quite a number of them.

“I do feel it is something we should take up as a council.”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

A reminder that Normanton is delivered by Whitwood DO which yesterday ‘celebrated’ 60 days of being in the offices in trouble list.

Has any other office been on the list for such a long length of time?

It’s not even like it’s a huge office - around 30 duties, you would think RM would flood it with agency for a week to get it off the list.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
