A Royal Mail van crashed and landed on its side in a Somerset village. Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision in Somerton on Sunday, October 5.

Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue said: "Fire Control received an emergency call from South Western Ambulance Service requesting Fire assistance with a road traffic collision in Somerton. Crews from Somerton and Martock was mobilised alongside an officer."

The single vehicle collision involved a Royal Mail van, which had landed on its side. Attending crews helped release the driver by removing the windscreen. The driver was then assisted in getting out of the vehicle, while crews worked to make the vehicle safe.

The article photo is a stock photo, not the actual vehicle involved.
