CWU latest update

Post by TopperGas »

Tony Baulch has finally spoken on the CWU WhatsApp channel, he's still suggesting they are proposing the alternative light and heavy ODM in talks but no indications RM have shown any interest in the alternative model.

Update for Delivery members from National Officer Tony Bouch. A meeting with senior Royal Mail managers is scheduled tomorrow afternoon for negotiations on all elements of section 5 of the CWU / EP Group agreement.

We will provide an update as soon as possible.

Not sure if this link will work :thumbup

The cynic in me wanders if the RM executives where truthful with EP group about the savings that could be made on given the fact so many revisions been imposed already in last 2/3 years

Also did EP group do any research into delivery or just take RM word

Deliveries been decimated

You get the impression DK/EPG were heavily involved with IDS/RM well before the takeover, it's not like they arrived from nowhere with a takeover offer, it wouldn't surprise me if even they bankrolled the RM in their fight against the CWU's IA, wasn't IDS' CEO parachuted in by DK rather than being a obvious RM appointment? So more fool DK if he just took RM's word for the potential savings.

Although if they can somehow cut deliveries to alternate days saving would be substantial. Why RM can't come up with a viable plan to do it is baffling.

I found it an odd watch, why couldn't he just sit at a desk or even on a train/in a coffee shop if he was traveling around the UK?

DK's investment group held shares in RMG as early as May 2020 or at least by then it was significant enough of a percentage to draw attention. By September 2022, early in that year's industrial action, the stake had approached the tipping point for talk of a takeover to begin. So yes, he's been in the background unseen like Emperor Palpatine in A New Hope and in this tortured analogy the CWU are ewoks. May the farce be with you.
The machine stops.
