A sorting office is under new management after a video emerged allegedly showing piles of undelivered post inside the facility.

Footage of the Royal Mail sorting office in Llandudno, appearing to show large amounts of undelivered post, was shared with Janet Finch-Saunders, MS for Aberconwy. The video has not been shared with the Pioneer or with Royal Mail due to what Mrs Finch-Saunders described as a “risk” of whistleblower(s) being identified.

On Friday, September 19, Mrs Finch-Saunders met with the new manager, Rhian Simpson.

Royal Mail has apologised to customers affected by delays, saying the unit has been hit by high levels of sick absence.

On Friday, September 19, Mrs Finch-Saunders met with the new manager, Rhian Simpson.

Royal Mail has apologised to customers affected by delays, saying the unit has been hit by high levels of sick absence.

Mrs Finch-Saunders said: “It shouldn’t have taken local posties whistleblowing to me so to tackle the serious delays to postal deliveries out of the Llandudno sorting office. However, the action and my subsequent campaign have delivered.

“In addition to formally apologising, the Royal Mail have a new manager in place.

“I congratulate Ms Simpson on her appointment and cannot express enough how impressed I was by her passion for the Royal Mail and ensuring that the sorting office operates as effectively as possible.

“Time will tell if the service remains at this improved standard, but for now, I have confidence that it will.”

Earlier this month, Mrs Finch-Saunders said she had been approached by several constituents raising concerns about delayed deliveries. She also highlighted her own experience, saying a first-class letter she posted in Llandudno on August 27 did not reach another Llandudno address until September 3.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We are sorry to customers in Llandudno who have experienced delays. The unit has recently been affected by high levels of sick absence which has put pressure on deliveries. First Class items are being delivered daily, however there have been delays to other mail.

“We are taking urgent steps to restore full service. This includes more support from neighbouring offices, recruitment and the addition of agency workers. Our priority is to clear all mail every day and return service levels in Llandudno to the high standard our customers expect."

Royal Mail was asked by the Pioneer to comment specifically on the appointment of the new manager, but no additional statement was given.

His badge is upside down.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

The time to send your videos was 2022 when the BEIS parliamentary committe investigated RM. Much has changed since then. Things are worse than ever.

The glaring problem all across the country is the lack of people to deliver everything. Any kind of record of what is going on is merely a reporting of the symptoms - someone has to actually administer a cure. What we see in every one of these stories is slapping a sticking plaster on a carotid haemorrhage.
The machine stops.
