THE Postal Review Service has confirmed that it is reviewing complaints raised by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council regarding delayed postal deliveries.
At a recent meeting of the Council, correspondence from the Panel, which addresses complaints about Royal Mail services, was discussed by councillors.
Elected representatives had previously expressed concerns about the slow postal service experienced by residents in the district, claiming that some individuals have missed hospital appointments due to late or delayed deliveries.
A letter from the Postal Review Service confirmed that these complaints are under investigation.
“The Postal Review Panel is a ‘ring-fenced’ team that sits outside of Royal Mail Customer Services and is empowered to review complaints from customers who have used a Royal Mail service.
“To enable me to provide you with a full review, I will first need to collate all of the information held by Royal Mail Customer Services, and further investigations may be necessary.
“For this reason, it can take up to 30 calendar days to provide you with a final response. Please be assured that this matter is being taken seriously, and I will contact you upon completion of my review or if I require further information from you.”
Council Chief Executive, Alison McCullagh, said: “We have received correspondence regarding the next stage of the process with the Postal Review Panel, which will review the evidence, previous representations, and available data.
“It will take 30 calendar days for that process to be completed. As soon as we receive a response, we will report back accordingly.”
The noting of the correspondence was proposed by UUP councillor Roy Crawford and seconded by his party colleague, Robert Irvine.
