I'd guess this was never an official option and depends on your DOM as they can adjust the SISO data which is obviously open to abuse

Wouldn't have thought it would be a big deal as an occasional favour (as long as it's returned in kind) as long as you're not
expecting to get paid by RM for it, that's where it gets complicated. Notify manager what's happening beforehand that you're
taking responsibility for delivery of loops 5 - 9 (for example) so that it doesn't seem that your pal has got an easy
duty (finishing three hours early on a Wednesday!) and you don't expect pay for it. Claim the favour back from your pal another day.

I've took a couple of loops of someone who desperately needed to leave early, ok'd it with manager, but didn't expect RM to pay for it as OT, got the favour back.

There might be a suggestion that you're working for free or illegally because you're technically on you're day off etc. but that's why you
should get the clearance (text or written format) from a manager beforehand. In previous employment we used to have an official
'chit' for a duty swap that detailed the requirements of both parties, their responsibility for undertaking the swap and manager sign off.
