THE loved ones of a mum who could ‘brighten any room with her presence’ are honouring her memory.

Lois Thompson was described as a ‘bundle of fun’ and those who knew her say the perfect phrase to sum her up is ‘once met, never forgotten’.

After suffering with her mental health for a long time, Lois, who was a wonderful mother to Matthew and the light of her fiancé Ian's life, sadly died on February 26, 2021, aged 52.

At the time, only 16 people could attend the postwoman’s funeral due to Covid restrictions. And there sadly couldn’t be a wake.

However, those who knew Lois were still able to say their goodbyes in a special way.

Her funeral procession started off at The Grappenhall and Thelwall Royal British Legion where Lois was a member and then set off to Milner Street where all of her fellow posties lined the street.

The journey from Milner Street to Walton Crematorium then passed through Lois’ postal route in Stockton Heath where people came out of their houses to clap.

Now, a special event and fundraiser is being held in honour of Lois. It also aims to help other people who are suffering with their own mental health to get the support they need.

Lois’ fiancé Ian and her friends are organising the event, and all proceeds will go towards the mental health charity Mind.

It will take place at The Grappenhall and Thelwall Royal British Legion on Saturday, March 1, from 6pm.

There will be live music, food, drink, raffle prizes, a DJ, an auction and more.

Anyone is welcome to attend the evening and it is hoped that the 200-capacity room will be full.

Lois’ loved ones said: “Lois never wanted to leave us, she just didn’t know how to stay.

“She is missed so much by so many we want to keep her memory alive and help others in her honour.

“Lois loved a good party so please come along and let’s do it in style as she would have done.”

Tickets are £10 and can be bought from The Grappenhall and Thelwall Royal British Legion.
