CWU LIVE - Postal Special with Dave Ward & Martin Walsh at 5pm
Dear Members,
Royal Mail stands at a crossroads. While we're still grappling with the aftermath of the dispute, the company's future hangs in the balance with potential new ownership under Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský's EP Group.
The stakes couldn't be higher. This takeover bid puts tens of thousands of jobs at risk and threatens the very foundations of the UK postal service. But we have a real opportunity here. Through our collective strength, we can influence crucial negotiations on jobs, pay, and working conditions. We're demanding:
Above-inflation pay rise for all
Fair terms for new entrants
Every other Saturday off for delivery staff
End to agency workers
Employee stake in business decisions
No compulsory redundancies
Join Dave Ward and Martin Walsh live on Youtube today at 5pm for:
Critical negotiations update
Details of our engagement plan
Discussion on upcoming EP Group talks
Your questions answered live

Your unity is our strength. Together, we can secure Royal Mail's future on our terms.
In solidarity

Interesting that the union now deem themselves as business experts, don't think that is what we pay you to do.
Securing the future on our terms means what exactly?
Employee stake in business decisions?
WTF has any of this got to do with a union that is supposed to solely look after it's members, i certainly don't expect my union to get involved in the business, that's for the owner's or possible incoming new owner to decide.
Unity and solidarity are great sound bites, you need to get the members onside first and convince us we aren't getting led down the garden path again.
Address the past, show contrition and maybe you can start to earn trust again.

Working conditions where it's routinely asked of people to do a job that should have 2 people on it, stuff like that?

Sounds like they are going to sacrifice our delivery supplement to level up new starters, good luck selling that one.

Going to driving a van/pushing a trolley over huge distances over a 6 hour period if these Saturday plans come to fruition. Indoor prep time will be minimal with only 1st class, specials and packets getting put in order and loaded into van/trolley.

You won’t be as you won’t only be doing your own duty like during the week , there will only a handful of first class letters on each duty so you will be picking up extra letters from other duties is how I read it.

How is it possible to get every second Saturday off then? Half the normal staff in each Saturday = double the duties (of parcels and 1C letter) that need covered.chickenwittle wrote: ↑21 Nov 2024, 20:25You won’t be as you won’t only be doing your own duty like during the week , there will only a handful of first class letters on each duty so you will be picking up extra letters from other duties is how I read it.
How long would it take you to drive round 8-10 loops of a regular duty with packets and 1st class letters only - 3 hours tops? RM aren't going to have people in on a Saturday working a 4 hour shift - especially if they drop other days from the letters USO.

I’m presuming revisions will take place as this isn’t happening anytime soon , Saturday sounds like it will basically be parcel day with a handful of first class letters.Perseus wrote: ↑21 Nov 2024, 20:57How is it possible to get every second Saturday off then? The USO change will not take place as a revision. The plan is that it will be deployed as a method change.
When we went from two deliveries to one it was a method change deployment.
The 39 units which will be part of the USO pilot subject to us getting our bargaining agenda will test the planning
