What's the hourly rate for posties in zone 1/2 offices of London on the old contracts?

Hi,

Considering moving to London, just trying to work out how much I'd be taking home to work out if it's affordable. I see the current rate for new employees is almost £15 an hour so wondering how much I'd be paid in comparison. I've been with royal mail almost 10 years.

I’m based in outer London on the old contract, full time 37 hours. Basic pay is £599.12 which works out at £16.19 per hour. If you include the £29.35 delivery supplement works out at £16.98 per hour.

I think for London waiting the inner was an extra £123 per week for full time. We've had probably 8% pay rise since then. Including delivery supplement i reckon a flat 37 hour week is £665 before deductions.

Please don't quote me on these figures, I could be wrong I'm the opposite end of the UK.

We had our manager and union rep give a joint message on this about 2 months ago. No reason to think they would just invent that - it must have come from higher up.

The LTB quoted suggests you can - but we all got a very clear message from our union rep, with our DOM standing there listening, that if you move youre on the new contract. I might move but not if it means going on the new contract.

Make sure you have seen how much rents have gone up in the last 2 years. In zone 4-5, so outer London you are looking at £900-1000pcm for a room in a shared accommodation.

Spoke to my dom today and he said you'll keep your contract if you move. It's crazy how everyone's saying different things, but what do we expect from royal mail these days ay?
