Contracts,seems too be little work for them too do on Sundays what is the point in that?.

I think the point of offering a Sunday service is to protect the Mon-Sat work we currently do.

If a company currently sends out 10 000 parcels/week but only 20 on Sunday, then unless we offer to do those 20 (at a loss) we risk losing all the contract.
I think that is their reasoning.

Sunday volumes are steadily rising week on week, month on month, and it isn’t just big retailers’ parcels anymore - we have quite a few “normal” T24s in amongst the gold stars that I think previously would have been deferred till the Monday. Even ignoring the spike for Fathers Day, the Sunday before that was the busiest Sunday I’ve experienced so far.

I think they must have a contract with Moonpig and Amazon, couple of others, to guarantee a 7 day delivery service.

It costs RM dearly to deliver on a Sunday because the volumes simply aren’t there. Individual offices might have an increase in volumes, but across the business as a whole, parcels are a stagnant mass and they are spaffing the profit from parcels up the wall by delivering them separately from letters.

It makes no financial sense and never has.

Keep being told it's because parcels will eventually come in later....yet all I see all over workplace is managers slapping each other on the back for advancing parcels and mail earlier thru the network. DPR has been a massive failed experiment and no one at the top level wants to be the one to put their hand up and say whoopsie we got it wrong. Let's make the deliveries a little bit smaller again and everyone takes their large. Once up the path is the most cost effective way of delivering multiple product items. Imagine having a guy just doing D2Ds someone else doing letters someone else doing the specials someone else emptying the boxes the other 3 guys walked past and someone else delivering parcels when 1 person can and has in the past done it all in one trip. This business is so screwed.

I’ve experienced this first hand. A few years back someone was told to just deliver 1st class. Someone else was delivering the parcels. I was ‘spare’ and told take out the mail left over (2nd class, mailsort etc). I think, but can’t be sure, a box of D2Ds were found under the frame so a 4th person was sent out to do those. Utterly farcical incompetence that in 99.9% of other companies would result in management having to answer for their decisions.
