Hello Everyone,
My delivery office has been sent out a ballot. The ballot concerns changes made to the office walks. Under the guise of summer lapsing they have tacked on another walk between 2 posties and have taken off the large parcels.
I was under the impression that Royal Mail can do whatever they want now that the main deal has been voted through.
My question are as follows:
1. Has anyone else's delivery offices had ballots sent out?
2. Does this new ballot affect the previous ballot i.e. £900 lump sum being paid?
3. If we strike now as a delivery office, are we more likely to be terminated, as there are fewer people striking (as oppose to thousands) and thus should be easier to replace?
Sorry if it's posted in the wrong place mods. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions.

Re: Another Ballot
Sorry I can't give an official answer and I know times have changed but traditionally the quieter summer period comes to an abrupt end when schools/colleges etc returned in September, ie in two weeks so "summer" lapsing not too convincing.
Oh and from previous comments on here you're likely to get the parcels dumped back onto the new bigger walks before they've got time to say
"where's the parcel drivers? Oh s**t we haven't got anyone"

Why the need for a ballot? Come in on time, do whatever they ask of you till your finish time then go home. Let your managers stress over things like this.

Re: Another Ballot
No idea. The union guy explained that my delivery office requested it. But I have heard no mention of this. Then again I have been off for a while and could have missed this. Also, we are due for a revision very soon from what I been told. So I'm finding it difficult to understand the unions decision for a ballot. Feels like we are lambs for the slaughter. Doesn't seem like we have anything to gain from striking. Although, that just might be my cynicism.

How can they argue if you have a set start and finish time? Just be calm and explain the situation and let them handle it. If you are getting aggro then start a grievance and get the union involved. People need to develop a bit thicker skin when it comes to this job as there are going to be turbulent times going forward.

Same in our office 3 walks condensed into 2,never had it so easy, trolley out strolling around do a couple loops of 3 days mail spend the rest of the shift driving around doing tracked while the manager is back in the office having a break down with non stop complaints ,hassle and stress . Loving life at royal mail and getting paid more .

How long will it be before the local parcel hubs start dumping the parcels that are not for the area covered by their DO back to the relevant DOs where they've not got the staff to clear their own work?ted_e_bear wrote: ↑20 Aug 2023, 21:12Sorry I can't give an official answer and I know times have changed but traditionally the quieter summer period comes to an abrupt end when schools/colleges etc returned in September, ie in two weeks so "summer" lapsing not too convincing.

Sadly that’s is now the perfect attitude to the job. We aren’t paid enough to care.guardianangel wrote: ↑21 Aug 2023, 05:57Same in our office 3 walks condensed into 2,never had it so easy, trolley out strolling around do a couple loops of 3 days mail spend the rest of the shift driving around doing tracked while the manager is back in the office having a break down with non stop complaints ,hassle and stress . We've all been doing our bulk parcels for months, since the revision.
