Not sure that’s the main issue, we knew about that already. I’d be more worried about the fact that someone with a genuine lifelong illness can still be conducted if there’s a “pattern” to absences

How do sign new people up when the people around you are leaving?

Think that is covered by the equality act.heraldmoth wrote: ↑02 Aug 2023, 20:52Not sure that’s the main issue, we knew about that already. I’d be more worried about the fact that someone with a genuine lifelong illness can still be conducted if there’s a “pattern” to absences

Knew about it already?....well none of us did...not in our office anyway...the two lads who have had their end dates extended got a letter off head office telling them of the 6 month extension.....so no, we didnt know about it....i cant imagine we were the only office that didn't know.heraldmoth wrote: ↑02 Aug 2023, 20:52Not sure that’s the main issue, we knew about that already. You know what’s going to sort all this? A 2 hour video on Facebook from Dave Ward. My union bingo card has the following on it:
Solidarity
Expanding
Fight
Battle
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

It’s covered but it won’t stop people being targeted regardless of an outstanding medical conditionaiden01 wrote: ↑02 Aug 2023, 22:04Think that is covered by the equality act.heraldmoth wrote: ↑02 Aug 2023, 20:52Not sure that’s the main issue, we knew about that already. Speaking as someone who has represented many members during attendance reviews that's always been the case with previous incarnations of the attendance agreement.heraldmoth wrote: ↑02 Aug 2023, 20:52Not sure that’s the main issue, we knew about that already. The Equality Act only protects people from discrimination, it doesn't give a free pass on any amount of absence even if it's related to a "genuine lifelong illness".
An employer is only compelled to disregard what would be considered a "reasonable" amount of absence related to a disability but it doesn't put a figure on what's reasonable, that is left to the employer to justify if it were to reach an employment tribunal.
