Dear Colleagues,
TUC Safety Reps Survey 2008
The 2008 TUC safety representatives survey has been published on 1st May. This is the seventh TUC biennial survey of Safety Reps and the survey provides invaluable information about the role that safety representatives play and the hazards they deal with.
The TUC wants to find out what safety reps are up against, the problems faced, their concerns, experiences and needs. The TUC's survey of Safety Reps is designed to provide the TUC and CWU with information from front line Safety Reps about where to better focus campaigns, strategies and resources. It is designed to provide the TUC and individual unions with information about who safety reps are, and what their experiences and needs are. We need this information so that the TUC and our Unions can do more to help Safety Reps, and so that Safety Reps' views and experiences are better reflected in public policy debates and the work of the Health and Safety Executive. We will publish the results, and use them to campaign for better safety standards at work (including more rights for Safety Reps).
All CWU Safety Reps are encouraged to take part in the TUC's Safety Reps survey. Your response is crucial to ensuring that this survey provides the information the TUC seeks. Please answer as many questions as you can - but if they seem irrelevant to your experiences, ignore them. The TUC want to know about any successes health and safety reps have had in improving health and safety standards.
All Regional Health and Safety Forum Secretaries are asked to publicise it as widely as possible amongst health and safety representatives and urge them to complete the survey. Please hand out Survey Forms at the next Forum meeting.
It can be completed on-line at: http://www.tuc.org.uk/h_and_s/tuc-14486 ... der/71/p/1
Many thanks for completing this questionnaire. Please complete it as soon as you can (by 1 July 2008 at the latest) to:
