What happens after 6 months full + 6 months half pay?

Dear all,

I need to find out what happens after the 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay? The pay goes to 0 and I wonder what are the rules? Will the pay activate again after several months or not all? Is there a reset in place for payment to start again say after another 3, 6 or 12 months? Obviously there may be a health retirement situation but in case if Royal Mail does not give me Ill Health Last Payment soon enough but also does not fire me due to my ill health what should I do or know? If anyone has any useful information that would be highly appreciated.

Jeez, the guy is only asking for information on how the process works. Comments about milking it and having it pretty good are really not helpful. For all you know he might be in this position because of having time off for cancer treatment. Try a little empathy.

Its on a 4 year cycle mate. Once you use up all of the sick absence...6 months full pay 6 months half pay....you will get nothing from royal mail until you have done another 4yrs. Thats when you will "re-instate" full sickness pay.....but by then we probably wont have a sick benefit scheme. It will probs all be ssp

SSP stops being paid after 34 weeks and will not be paid again for another three years.

You may claim benefits when SSP stops ,HR will inform you nearer the time.

You pay will half after six months then zero at 12.

Hopefully you will get better soon..

I'm not criticising anyone here but you can understand some people's frustrations.
You have employees who pride themselves in their own work ethic, they never go sick unless they really are ill and believe in doing a days work for a days pay then you have others who go sick at the drop of a hat.
Argument at work, go sick with stress, can't get what they want go sick for six months, there are loads who take the p1ss especially in mail centres and have now ruined it for everyone else so that now when someone has a genuine illness they get treated the same as a chancer.
Like I say I'm not casting aspersions on any one here but you can understand people's frustrations at times.

I do understand the frustration however the guy was only looking for advice and you get people having a go at him even though they know nothing about the fellas circumstances ,who needs enemies with colleagues like that.

Please bare in mind we get a lot of queries from our colleagues-Please don't just rant off on one in the thread about whose fault it is or isn't that it's happening etc, please try to answer their query if you can,if you can't then leave it for others who can.

When SSP stops you can claim Contribution based Employment support allowance, providing you have paid enough National insurance.
Depending on your illness you may also get PIP, which is disability payments.
If you have paid have been in the pension for a while you should also get Sick pay at pensionable rate when your Royal mail wages stop
Royal Mail will contact you when your wages stop
You need to contact DWP to see what benefits. you can get.
Your sick pay will not be available again at RM for 4 years.
