How we beat them??

Post by scotchy1962 »

As we near the holidays and prepare for another 2 days of action i got to thinking how this is going to resolve itself. Royal Fail and Simple Slyman are seemingly just going to keep ignoring our action until their grand master plan comes to fruition, or are they? I can see small glimmers every now and then that somebody is starting to take notice and i fancy thats the only way we get a half decent result. The general public is our only hope and once they are stirred they would have the power to shift even the most stubborn government into action, people aren't stupid but they cant see what we see everyday. Its slowly travelling into the media what they are doing in terms of quality of service and the apparent attempt to change how we work. I find it almost impossible to believe that any of the revisions will be anything but unworkable with no chance of ever completing in your time, which in turn will lead to part duty failures on a regular basis, so not only do they want the 6 day delivery done away with they wont even be able to honour the 5 day. Beggars belief how these idiots got to where they are in life as my grandchildren could do as good a job but there you go. Now i am no left wing tory hater but i have seen this a few times when you let these fools into power for to long, they become comfortable and greedy and think they are untouchable, but we can change that by standing our ground and shouting no until we get the result we deserve, we have come to far to back down now so stay strong and support your union. Rant over, a merry Christmas to you all and your families and i hope you all enjoy the festive season.

Offices may seem clear but the mail centres are not and can’t get it out Royal Mail will fail Xmas deliveries as the last day is tomorrow and will lose a lot of work now it’s certainly job done and in our office parcels will fail so not much will be done off the agency due to the back log already so
Anything in the pipe line will now fail
Meaning in many compensation claims the strike has done a lot of damage

Well our office is far from clear frames full parcels everywhere and 20 plus boxes stacked next to delivery’s and 30 cages of mail unsorted Christmas is going to be delivered in February

I was all for the slow slow approach at the start, but looking back, after having lost about £1500 myself I think it would’ve been better to go guns blazing like you say

They are pulling the rug out from under us by increasing using their agency staff. Literally training our replacements on the job.

Can you blame Angard workers crossing the picket line after being stabbed in the back by the CWU. Some are, or should I say were members?

Royal Mail must commit to prioritising the removal of all agency staff before voluntary redundancies take place and confirm they will not hire new entrants across the business to replace existing workers who decide to take voluntary redundancy.

So the real reason behind the taciturn approach the CWU has taken toward supporting those CWU members who work for Angard (A wholly owned RMG Company) becomes apparent.

They want RMG to commit to effectively depriving Angard staff of their employment and the means of earning a wage. Many Angard staff have worked in RM depots longer than direct hire RM staff, years most times Angard staff have in the main supported the IA and refused to cross picket lines much to their financial detriment in order to support their colleagues and friends yet here we have a Union blatantly stabbing fellow workers in the back.
I repeat fellow communication workers and CWU members who have supported the IA. An utterly shameful move from the CWU leadership is a thing that they consistently blame ST for doing. Utter Hypocrites.

Angard staff are now aware of the contempt that the CWU leadership has for them. Do not be surprised if many highly experienced Angard staff cross the picket line should this week's planned IA begin. Remember, these Angard staff are multi-skilled and can cover every aspect of the operation. Combine these skilled staff with the recent huge influx of 'seasonal staff', who probably will cross picket lines, then the planned effect of the IA may be decimated.

Also good luck with trying to convince pickets to talk their Angard colleagues out of crossing picket lines. I am sure the rank-and-file members will see how much of a hypocritical act this would be, especially as Dave Ward is on record advising workers working for the likes of Amazon to join a union. Why should they, Mr Ward? you'll just pocket their fees then stab them in the back.

I wish you luck with your attempts to try and garner sympathy for agency staff and your effort to turn it into a divisive attack on the CWU.

Everyone needs a hobby.

My office doesn't seem to have that many agency workers considering it's a large office which has zero float cover.

Each day we are expected to clear our tracked and do what we can of the letters/standard parcels.

Sometimes posties are moved off their rounds to clear 2 rounds worth of tracked. Letters/standards get another day behind.

I see maybe 3 or 4 agency staff.

Actually we are talking about Angard staff who are Royal Mail employees. Angard is a Royal Mail group company without a substantive contract for their workers. In other words, work colleagues.

Seems all pigs are equal, but some pigs more equal than others

How would you feel with compulsory redundancy if it was agreed last in first out?
