CWU : Reports of Royal Mail issuing local instruction not to deliver letters

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Surely everyone knows this has been happening for weeks. It must be coming from the top as coms probably wouldn't all be doing it off their own backs. s**t travels downwards

If these orders were issued from monday then it is perfectly correct and inline with the directive to the public RE last posting date for 1st class fri 16th dec.
It is quite correct that this week only Tracked and SD will be delivered.
THEY WERE TOLD

Our managers have had a sudden change of direction last few days and told us to do as much mail and tracked as we can and bring back what cant be done - even if its tracked parcels
Must have got wind that this investigation was coming

If there's insufficient capacity to deliver letters and parcels before Christmas then is makes sent to me to just deliver the parcels etc, personally I'd be far more annoyed if a present didn't arrive than just Christmas cards or the usual junk mail.

It makes more sense... but they aren't supposed to do it.
What I'd like to ask the CWU is..... what about the fact Royal Mail have understaffed us for 14 months+. We have had no float cover at our large mail centre for ages....we are essentially running a 5 day service. Not because we can't recruit the staff, but because Royal Mail want to run a 5 day service....
Provide evidence of that to Ofcom and the government!!!!!

Re: CWU : Reports of Royal Mail issuing local instruction not to deliver letters
TBH if it's a choice between getting a handful of Christmas Cards and one of Bank Statements and Energy Bills I think most customers would prefer the cards.
I tend to throw everything off and then, if I can, concentrate on the addresses with loads of cards that haven't gone out for a few days. Nex day the other addresses may have got more cards so I'll take them. As well as being told to concentrate on Tracked and Parcels it can be a confusing scenario!
Even though we're striking I think most Posties are still trying to do the best they can for their customers

OFCOM must know what's going, or at least could know if they bothered to ask anybody.

The USO should not be run by a private company, because for them it's all about profits. Where as the USO should be about quality of service.

Managers are very clever, in this respect at least, as they'll NEVER put anything down on paper.
And with the draconian rules about taking photos within RM premises you couldn't even take a photo of any notice boards stating as such ..... unless you wanted to drop yourself in it.
