Welcome Bonus
Has RM ever offered these welcome bonuses before or is it just sheer desperation to get positions filled??

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Welcome Bonus
Making people redundant but hiring new staff with a welcome bonus… that’ll go down well in redundancy consultations…

From exam results and tax returns, to wedding invites
All part of the great Royal Mail PR.
When the reality is they don’t give a monkeys toss whether they get put through your door on the day it’s been paid to.

Re: Welcome Bonus
That’s the island of Islay where they have had loads of trouble with deliveries and retaining staff.
My wife’s a teacher and she sees numerous job add with that type of bonus where they are finding it difficult to recruit.

Re: Welcome Bonus
Yes they have lost 12 staff in the last 12 months and 6 in the last month! Some folk have not had mail for close on a month.

Re: Welcome Bonus
I say it's good they're trying to fill these vacancies, but a one off bung will just get a short term solution as the housing situation in islay and similar areas (highlands, islands, Cornwall?, lakes?) isnt going away quickly.
Theyd be better buying or building staff houses like ye olde police houses, and offering subsidised rent. The hospitality industry in those areas have had to do this for years already.

Re: Welcome Bonus
IIRC the new contracts didn't start until after the 31st of October.
