A Dales postwoman has raised more than £7,000 for charity with the support of the community on her daily post round by completing the Great North Run.
Tracy Bowe, 47, from Middleham, completed the race on Sunday, September 11 with sister Leanne.
They finished the 13.1-mile course in two hours and 34 minutes
The pair took on the challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support because of the help the charity has given their brother Paul
Paul, aged 44, was diagnosed with incurable brain tumours in 2021.
Tracy said: “I would just like to say a massive thank you to the local community, especially people on my daily walk of Harmby, Spennithorne and East Witton for their generosity and support.
“My sister and I are truly grateful for all the donations we have received for Macmillan.
“Although the run itself was a challenge, we gave it 110 per cent because of all the support we had received. ”
Paul, who lives in Darlington, was given six to 12 months to live after his diagnosis last year.
He was supported by a Macmillan nurse who helped him apply for PIP and access benefits to make him more comfortable.
Tracy also has 18 giant gnomes on display in her front garden, two dressed up in support of her fundraising for Macmillan, people have been taking selfies for a small donation to the cause – the gnomes have helped Tracy raise over money towards the total.
