Hi,
Parcel has arrived in the UK (allegedly), but no Royal Mail Tracking updates
Is anyone having similar experiences with parcels from the US to the UK?
A parcel has been sent to me by USPS, that was scanned as leaving the US and arriving in the UK on 12 May.
The Royal Mail tracking doesn't recognize the parcel as arrived in the UK. I phoned Royal Mail yesterday and the first person told me it was being prepared to leave the UK (worrying). The second person I spoke to said it hadn't arrived in the UK yet (confusing).
Does anyone have any ideas what might have happened to this parcel - could it have been lost at Heathrow? It's not showing as having reached Langley yet.
As Royal Mail Customer Services don't seem to be able to help, does anyone know if the USPS would be able to try and locate it for me?
I'm concerned that it has been lost on arrival in the UK. Any advice (or similar experiences) would be really welcome!

I don't have many parcels from the US, so it was hard to judge it it's caught in the reported customs delays, or hadn't made the flight.
I've been comparing it against the only other parcel I've had, that first appeared to track in Royal Mail as Item Received at Langley HWDC. As below:

Royal Mail and customs are on the same site at Langley. It goes into the customs part first, and they don't have tracking equipment.

Thanks @Snaggletooth. The interaction between RoyalMail and Customs (more so ParcelForce and Customs) has always confused me - do Royal Mail staff carry out the Customs checks, or do Border Force UK also have staff on site at Langley?
Thanks @TrueBlueTerrier as well. That was one of my earlier replies, well caveated with "I think ...", as it is what I have been able to gather talking to various at RM, USPS and carrier companies. Did it sound feasible?

HMRC staff carry out the customs checks (not Border Force or RM).

My parcel is not yet scanned by RM as being at Langley, does that mean it hasn't been checked or gone through Customs clearnance? It apparently arrived in the UK on 12 May, RM still think it's in the US - I checked again today.

Some patience has paid off for me, it looks like you were quite right that the parcel was passing through Customs.
There had been no updates since the 11 May, but now it's moving through the system again - that cheered me up this morning!

Some patience has paid off for me, it looks like you were quite right that the parcel was passing through Customs.
There had been no updates since the 11 May, but now it's moving through the system again - that cheered me up this morning!

Yes and no.
No in that it will have to pass through a mail centre or three to get to your local delivery office, depending on where you are in the UK.
Yes in that not all of these services get full tracking in the UK, it depends on how it was sent. So although it will pass through other places, you might not see this on the tracking.

A rhetorical question, but I wonder how many questions RM get by people like me who have had a few bad experiences and start over-analysing the tracking?
In all honesty, until some lost parcels this year (PF not RM) I didn't really look at it that closely.
Thanks for your help - I wish you were guiding RM Customer Service, if they just gave clear answers it would be so much easier. I'm sure years ago (back in the days of half-day opening on a Thursday (now I sound old), you could go in and ask someone and they'd say "I've seen this before, it all looks fine" - and I'd have confidence in the answer. Perhaps I'm just being nostalgic though ...
