Clocking in early with SISO

I was pulled for a chat this morning for clocking in 8 minutes early, apparently I can’t clock in over 5 minutes before my shift starts or I will end up getting taken down the conduct route. I’ve never heard anything so ridiculous in my life that I can’t clock in to work early it’s not like I’m asking for 8 minutes extra pay. Can anyone advise on if this is even allowed or has anyone else had this happen with them? Thanks

80 % go in 30 minutes early minimum then clock in 7.10 ish when there start time is 7.15 , many offices full of mugs working 2hr 30 minutes minimum FREE each week ,and they wonder why all walks aren't equal, when I'm on leave I know one person who starts 45 minutes early on my duty, absolute madness.

Clock in at whatever minute you start on the 50th-59th second.

You have 5 minutes leeway for being late so bollocks to them! They're the ones being childish.

My guess is they are just getting it sorted out for when SISO is properply used to monitor our Pay . My Manager told me recently that SISO will be used that way soon , moreso for people leaving early . I guess they dont want that Discussion around people coming in early and should they be entitled to be paid for that time ?

That’s fair enough but there’s people who turn up to work 1.5hr early but nothing is said to them because they don’t clock in when they get there? if I dont clock in when I walk in Id forget, just can’t see how getting to work 8 minutes early is worth being disciplined

Ok but what if you for whatever reason decide to stay out and clear an oversized duty and get back way after your finish time? Are you doing so at your own risk?

I've only ever worked one other job with scanning in, but the rule there was no more than 2 minutes before your start time or face a disciplinary. They, however, had the minutes you worked tied to pay already. 25 years ago.

So the same as every single other job with a 'scan in machine' ever then? I used to stamp in/out previously 30 years ago. We got paid what we worked to the half hour.

What a load of nonsense. Not insured. Really. Quite happy for you to run over ad hoc but not arrive early. As if thats how insurance works as well anyway. They will be insured 100% of the time.
