IHR

Post by PMC Postie »

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me with a question I have about Ill health retirement, I'm 65 years old and I have been with Royal Mail since 1985, I took my NR 65 pension on the 1st of September 2021 and left the pension scheme, then in late November I started to feel generally unwell and lost a fair bit of weight anyway the upshot is I was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in December 2021.

I have to say my HOD was great he offered me IHR as soon as he was aware of my diagnoses and subject to the dreaded Optima health approving it which was hellish, they wanted my medical records before making a decision I signed the consent forms but it took 3 months for the records were made available to Optima, anyway a Doctor from Optima contacted me yesterday and told me I meet the criteria for IHR and he would be advising the business that I be given IHR with benefits? I asked him what that meant as I thought there was only one IHR scheme he told me thee are in fact two schemes the standard one and the enhanced one he was recommending for me, can any one tell me if this is correct? I telephoned the Mail centers union room but no one knew anything about an enhanced scheme so maybe the Doctor was wrong? so my question is has anyone reading this know of this enhanced scheme? Thanks.
