Attempting to deliver half a frame of letters each day + tracked/specials/first class is how this job should be done nowadays.
Prioritising tracked/specials is the way forward.
Like everything, the devil is in the detail of how much time they expect people to be out on delivery for each day.
There are zero national agreements on it, which is why in my personal view any type of heavy/light or half frame and swap over type of delivery will work in some offices and not others. RM are complicit in this vagueness along with the CWU and they state that deliveries will become a bit longer and how it's important to have a proper indoor work plan in place to get people out on time.
No matter what they do, it will work in some offices and not work in others. As long as there are finish times, it doesn’t matter what they do! They can give us 10 days mail and it makes no difference to what time we finish at.
It isn’t going to be any different to what we are doing now anyway. Tracked/specials/first class will still all be prioritised and rightly so. 2nd class mail will be done when we can do it.
Although I think you like to be a bit provocative, there is a lot of truth in what you say.
Royal Mail will do what it wants, eventually.
I know it’s hard for some people but you can only do whatever you can do in the hours allotted.
Try not to stress. Try to ignore bullying managers. They’re not sacking anyone for working properly. They can barely keep the staff they’ve got.
Go to work, do your hours, go home, get paid.

Exactly, that’s all anyone can do. Anyone getting stressed in this job is creating it themselves. It is set up to benefit posties now. We can literally walk in and deliver as little mail as we like (within reason) and it isn’t questioned. As long as premium products go, you’re good.
Though another thing that needs addressed is people coming in early. It should be banned and these idiots need stopped. The CWU should be fighting against that.

That's never going to change, and i'd file that in the same place with things that I neither care about or can do anything about.
Why would the CWU be interested in doing anything about it?

The CWU have always told their members not to start work early, I'm not sure there's anything they can do if they are just ignored?

In same way many years ago when they told members not to use their own cars.

Walsh will be back posting here when it’s time to sell the new deal and/or when it’s time for the union elections. He’s gaslighted the members for the last couple of years now and I hope everyone remembers it.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Guess you’re one of them people then lol
Not at all, my point is that I don't get why it annoys people so much. I totally agree with your way of working by the way, and people coming in early/working for free etc etc should have no impact on you.

I personally don’t care, they can add all they want onto duties and I’ll still be back on my time. Some may care though and having these people have duties nearly prepped and out the doors before they are even due to start is not a fair representation of workloads.

An easy way for RM to stop this is just enforce a rule that nobody leaves the DO until every round which is going out that day is fully prepped, as things stand it's just a mad rush to be first out of the door.

Not viable as some would have to go out to do SDs, firms and timed deliveries.

Too logical for RM. Too many 'favourites' to look after. You know, the ones with easy/light duties that NEVER fail a single day, first out the door, back early standing laughing and chatting with their cronies. That versus those who are rota'd in on a later start with very heavy town duties who can't even get their first couple of loops in the frame. Never mind D2Ds, 3 days of mail, their 160+ parcels and not getting out until far too late only to bring much of it back 3 to 4 hours later.
The level of inequality in RM really is astounding. When people are getting back early, does it not cross a managers mind to tell them to start throwing in D2Ds for other duties as a minimum for example instead of being paid to do nothing?

I honestly do not understand why people come in early. We had a stand-in manager (ex union rep of 10+ years) who told us 'if you're in the building when you're not supposed to be, you're not covered under insurance/health and safety'. He used to basically say if you were involved in an accident at work outside of your contracted hours/or on OT, you would be disciplined for it.
If somebody on the machines starts at midnight, and they break a finger at 2330, their instant response would be 'what are you doing here at this time?' ....And you've literally shat on your own claim, regardless of fault.
We have a few on collections who come in 30 minutes early, and then they cannot wait 1 second over to clock out....Who the hell wants to work for free, absolutely baffling!?!
