I am afraid that anyone who has been in the job any length of time will have come up against this. Things do get damaged in transit and it’s a fact of the job. Of course the packaging helps a lot if its been actually wrapped well in the first place. Try not to dwell on it too much as the item was probably mashed in the mail centre before you even set eyes on it.
In future If you notice a packet or parcel looking or sounding in a sorry state than take it to the reg locker and get them to place it in a “sorry we fooked up” bag as this makes things a little easier if the customer comes out. Its then best to say that it arrived from the mail centre in the bag. It has an explanation as to " why we mashed it" printed on the side. This also helps the customer to make a claim for the damage as well.

Heavy on the flats as well. I took out 11 bags in total and was walking for just over 4.5 hours. Used a van for the last 45 mins as my legs were knacked.
Nice and sunny to around lunch time though but then the clouds moved in. Booked an hour Ot, happy day

ATOS are of the opinion that a return to work on light duties is reasonable starting Saturday. Doctor says that's fine, he just doesn't want me doing a delivery until I'm through the prescription and am pain-free. I'm pretty cool with that, tbh. Knee is starting to loosen up a bit which is nice, but given that it became so inflamed so quickly last Friday, and given that the mega-dose of ibuprofen is making me a bit sick, being indoors is about right I reckons. Will see what they say when I speak to work tomorrow.
Am gonna get some physio as well which sounds decent to me, as my knees have gone a bit funny these last 3 - 6 months. I've got weird-shaped knees which I'm sure doesn't help. Tbh, the ATOS lady seemed pretty decent on the phone. I know it could all be a ruse but she said it wasn't surprising that people are getting injured, the work is hard, we're out for a long time nowadays, etc. Seemed fair enough to me.
Feeling a bit paranoid... I'm doing 2 walks on Sat, that i've not done before.... on my own (It was agood idea at the time, well when the rate was mentioned anyway,) but every time i mention to folks the two walks that im doing.... they laugh and say good luck !!!!!!!!!! I think i've sold my soul and it is going to be money hard earned

LOL. You're screwed. I did this once, or didn't cause I didn't complete the second one cause it got dark and I just gave up (sheer exhaustion/frustration). Can do two walks I know no problem (just about), but when I did two I didn't know it really f****d me up and the DOM wasn't happy when he found out I didn't deliver it all. Sent me out 6am next morning to deliver the rest. Good luck though, at least Saturday is fairly light (compared to Wednesday lol).
Its been a strange week for me, very mixed. The office had huge amounts of cut offs on Monday & Thursday. Not looking forward to next week, oh and expect a mega mailing that has to be delivered by Wednesday.

Not as bad as i thought it would be, fairly light on mail and packets, got paid 12 hrs did it 5 - and nice working on my own and splitting the walks how i saw fit - a bit old school.

Heaviest Sat for a long time,we had British Gas letters no doubt telling everyone about the recent price rise. I suppose they want then delivered on Saturday so when the complaint lines open on Monday people have cooled off.
Nice day lying in, went into town for a full English with the bro. New bike came the other day but I can't ride it - £1200 waste of space at the minute. Still limping about a bit. Finding it difficult to believe that there is NO indoor work I could be doing at any point in the coming week, but who cares? Better at home than at work.
