Seemed like the lightest Tuesday in years for letters today,it must have been a coincidence that time and motion bods were watching us out and back
Bet they are not there when it's busy.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Thursday yet another reduced mail day due to low summer volume of mail. What an absolute joke, if this is the quiet part of the year God help at the backend of August
and September. I've been with Royal Mail seven years and have never handled so much mail at this time of year yet more lies from RM regarding falling volumes, 6% fall in a year my A*%$ I know what the role of a postman is I just can not abide the implication that we are doing less and less work we now prep all the duties of 30 hour postmen and with all the magazines and brochures (which are still mail as far as I am concerned) my pouches are as heavy as March and September but the message still being aired in the media is still one of us little or nothing to do One Angry Postman

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
I go on holiday tomorrow morning and arranged for a colleague to work my day off for me with me paying him for it. This was the following conversation with my manager today...
'How much you paying Stevie?'
'Thats between us'. I replied.
'You paying him for the 8 hours?' - We are both part time workers but due to the changes we have been in 2 hours early.
'No! I have payed him for my shift, 9:05 - 14:35, what i am being paid for!'
'No you need to pay him the overtime because we need him to prep the walk but have no money to pay anymore overtime'.
Serious conversation.
Apart from this my day was actually quite good, finished on time for a change!!

I would say this is a performance issue, tut tut I can see having to go down the conduct code, As I have to wing it and bluff my way through a day and pretend I know what I'm doing. Ando he sounds familiar?
