No

You get back pay for everything that has changed, basic pay, delivery supplement and overtime payments.

The vote has already happened.

The back pay is due the first pay date after 30 April.

Hi TBT thanks for that, but just to clarify overtime only counts above 39 hours. I work 18 hours so time worked between 18 and 39 does not attract the 5%. so presumably any time worked in May will be at the full rate. Thanks again

18 and 39 does not attract the 5%
No it does.

Otherwise, you would be on a different pay rate than FTimers doing the same job and that would be illegal.

HI
Good point but I have had it confirmed by the CWU that as from October P/T and F/T would indeed on different rates above the P/T core hours, this is due to the fact that overtime means hours worked over 39. In essence P/T workers just do extra hours above their core hours and that does not attract the 5% increase. I know it feels wrong but that is the case, something which many P/T workers probably didn't realise when they voted and possibly don't realise now.

What an absolute joke that part timers were not made aware of this. All those part timers on 18/21/25 hour contracts who have been doing 40+ hours per week on overtime every week, won't be getting any back pay for those hours. I wonder if they now regret voting Yes.

Sorry, your rep or the Union official is wrong.

The 5% increase applies to everyone up to 39 hours and applies for everyone who does overtime beyond 39 hours where the pay rates are the same. Up to 39 hours there is a SSPR to take into account the Del Supplement for the uncroacted hours up to 39.

I think where the confusion arises is when FT go down to 38 hours, everyone will get an increase of 2.6% (the hour less offsets the pay rise). At that point, overtime will start at 38 hours. PTimers doing more than their contracted hours will get SSPR up to 38 hours and then overtime beyond that.

I think you will find up & down the country it was those with long service that voted yes just for the back pay & told the part timers how good the jobs was? New starters had nothing to lose the the pension they are on is not worth the paper it was written on, anything would have been better, sadly it's the old timers that got screwed, but you had the chance to make a stand .... but hay ho.

I left employment on 31/3/2018 - anyone know whether I should/could expect back dated pay?

Yes you will. Remember every hour that a part timer works above their contract is based on the hourly rate which includes the delivery supplement up to 39 hours currently and than paid at over time which for the first 10 hours is the same as the hourly rate.

So all hours you have worked above your contracted hours will receive back pay of 5% since October 2017. This is in addition to the 5% on your contracted hours.

In October a part timer will receive an additional 2.66% increase in pay for the hour off the working week. This reduction in the working week will be on an agreed date for everyone in the UK and will be subject to local agreement in October.

Dingo.

I see that an extra not has been added to your quote, you're going to have to be very clear on this to avoid any confusion.

Will there be any local agreement in place? I ask this as there is a rumour in my office that the DOM wants the whole hour off the working week on a Tuesday as everyone is back well within their time that day. But everyone else expects 12 mins per day throughout the week.

Ok I will try and explain : There will be an agreed date where all full time staff in every office will start working 38 hours in October. This will trigger the additional pay rise of 2.66% for part timers.

The reason why is there are 3 offices still working 40 hours as they failed to reach a local agreement. Hence a date for all will be set

How a local office reduces the hour will be based on in delivery offices IWT and PDA actuals. So this part is subject to local agreement.

For processing , collections , RDCs , International talks are on-going on how the hour will be reduced and than local offices will agree the detail.

I think some depots are going to have a big problem arising here Dingo with local agreement.

Like I said my depot, the rumour is the DOM wants an hour off on Tuesday as we are all back early on Tuesdays. Everyone else wants 12 minutes per day. Lets say our union rep goes in and says I want 12 minutes per day and the DOM says no, it's an hour off on Tuesday and it goes to a failure to agree? Will this all be sorted by the agreed date? A lot of staff will be very unhappy if we are forced to have an hour off the day on Tuesday, especially the reserves who usually get shafted with Tuesday rest days.

The most logical thing to do in our office would be to take an hour off Saturday, so we finish an hour earlier. Not many guys seem to be working past their times on a Saturday.

However, knowing what I know about Royal Mail they will probably take the hour off our start times - and then start paying staff on overtime to come in earlier and either prep duties and/or walk sort
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
