If this drags on we should cancel union subs.

It's quite ironic . I'm meant to be better off in my wage but with new pension increase taken out im actually £10 worse off in my wage this week . You couldn't make it up

It probably is true, hence the negotiation between the two parties. I voted No ,so I suppose I’m no worse off really, short term anyway! Long term doesn’t bear thinking about.daveyeff wrote:Just heard a rumour from a rep... And i hope thats All it is.... He says the back money is being paid in 2 or 3 installments... The back pay timetable should have been agreed before we voted , once again the CWU have been slapped down by RM , absolute disgrace

Why do RM have to accept (or decline) the result? They (along with CWU) proposed the agreement.Lincox wrote:Has there been any official statement from Royal Mail that they have actually accepted the result of the vote?
After all only 51% voted and 9% of those voted no. Hardly an endorsement for a lasting agreement.
And I would imagine that the % of eligible voters required to vote (to accept or reject an agreement) to validate a vote is totally different
from the % enshrined in law for voting for IA. It's probably in the CWU rule book but I've no idea what the % is and whether
it's just a simple majority regardless of numbers voting.

The Union had the right to pull out of the agreement if the membership had offered up a no vote. Royal Mail as an equal partner in this agreement also have the right to pull out of the agreement if they also consider that there is insufficient support within the workforce as a whole including those who remain outside of the union in order for the agreement to work.yellowbelly wrote:Why do RM have to accept (or decline) the result? Wholly agree with that. The whole 'deal' has been a tragic farce since the strike action vote.ebbzie wrote:Hope we dont get it for months. That will teach the money grabbers who only voted yes for a few pieces of silver

I almost agree with you - in fact it has been a farce since early last summer when the union constantly delayed balloting for strike action... with a strike ballot last July, who knows ? - we might have actually achieved 'something special'redneck wrote:Wholly agree with that. I do not believe all the negativity being expressed here. A company this size with the complexity that goes with the way the overtime is paid ( a week in arrears) is probably taking an extra week to ensure that the payments go through smoothly and without errors( I remember post on here saying that there would be a trial run to iron out any gliches), especially as we have had double bank holiday weeks and the financial year end in the mix too. The LTB was an attempt to let everyone know that the union are being kept in the loop as regards the planning of when and how to pay the arrears.
It is not as simple as hitting a button marked "add 5%". For example in the first qualifying week there will be payments for the previous week's overtime that would not qualify for the 5% increase. Also is our pension contributions a percentage of our pay, I think it is, so does that mean we will all have to pay extra pension contributions from October last year , and with PSE that would mean a whole new calculation to be made too. To do this for a dozen employees would be hard enough but for thousands I know I would not like to do it.
Why don't we all wait to find out when the plan is to pay the arrears before we all slate the company and the union like some have been doing.
