Hi

I think I have gotton a bit further, one of the office girls in Leeds called to Sheepscar delivery office to-day and they kindly went through the recorded deliveries and the letter never got there.
so at least I know it never left Langley so its narrowing down a bit now lets hope they do their job and find out where it is.
I will know this week .

I still cannot believe the public is being hoodwinked in thinking a registered letter is 100% safe it should be pointed out at the desk as you are paying for the service and the terms and conditions mean nothing
as to make them legal you have to sign a terms and conditions box as with airlines booking tickets. you tick a box to say you agree with the terms and conditions.

I hope the letter is found it was only going to do good for very sick young people.

No offence oaklands but you would have to be very naive to believe that anything that travels hundreds of miles and passes through many hands could ever be 100% safe...the terms and conditions do not promise a 100% guarantee of safety.
That is why Royal Mail special delivery carries insurance cover.
I understand this does not help with an item of personal value but to be honest the only way to ensure 100% safety is to hand deliver it yourself.

Well i wouldn't say it's 100% safe but death is 100% guaranteed although the lifetime of the product may vary depending what model you get and how it's used. :chuckle

An post have already sent in a prime enquiry to the royal mail I have already set this up I should have word this week.
nothing is certain except death and taxes I know that we have no control over that.

the letter is in Langley where it was last scanned, we will see now if their internal controls work or
not. shoddy service and indifference to customers if this letter is not found.
a very strange attitude to people's valueables going through their systems.

No. The last scan was in Langley. That's the only definite thing there. Mistakes have obviously happened. As previously stated it could be in a mail bag that's not been emptied properly. OR could still be in Langley.

You seem to be making a few assumptions, assuming that registered is 100% safe, assuming it's still in Langley, assuming that all RM employees don't give a damn.

Well I am jumping the the gun in thinking there is no hope really and I am fool to think otherwise
only because that is the feedback I have been given by everyone.

Its like a general indifference and its coming from the UK, it seems to be an attitude of what can we do about it.
I did assume that my letter was going to get to its destination when I went to the Post Office on the 26th of April 2011
and registered it I assumed it was a safe way to send it.

Assuming is wrong I have learned in the last month, I do get the feeling I am the one at fault here for the one assumption
that my letter was in some kind of secure system.

When people get in an aeroplane they assume they will get to their destination or any other kind of service i.e train ticket, boat ticket, taxi I cannot see the difference. anyway
today is another day and I will await and see.

Apart from us have you spoken to anyone in the UK.

If all the contact you have had with Royal Mail in the UK is via this forum then the attitude of "What can we do about it" and the perceived indifference is understandable. We are a group of people who in OUR FREE TIME come on here to offer unofficial advice to colleagues and customers. There is nothing we can do, we are not sat in some call centre waiting with bated breath for your call. We are KEYBOARD WARRIORS sat at home doing the best we can. If that is not good enough............. well there not much I can say to that except to thank each and every single person who contirbutes not just to this thread but the forum in general. I personally think you all go the extra mile and show how good Royal Mail could be if they saw "their people" as an asset rather than as obstacle.

Everyone give yourseleves a pat on the back, you deserve it. :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause :Applause

In all fairness, RM customer services is something that is complained about regularly. Probably because they seem to give wrong information to people. But that's RM's fault for not being good at communicating. If the CS on the phones don't have access to the information that RM have, then their obviously going to give out the wrong information to the customer.

Had same customer in 5 times to set up a call and collect that we weren't allowed to set up at local level, and each time she called customer service, she got sent back to us. Took me calling them and telling them we weren't allowed to do it at local level before they finally helped the customer.

Now even if one in fifty customers get that kind of runaround is it any surprise that people complain about RM. When I was in the locker, it was the biggest complaint I had. Not about posties, but CS giving people the wrong information or complaining about the automated system where it's hard to get thru to speak to a human being (but that's the same with most companies)

Oakland, I still understand where you're coming from with this, but ANPost is who your contract is with. It's really up to them to be chasing Royal Mail about this.

In order for the police to become involved you would have to have some evidence that a criminal act had occurred.
Royal Mail will investigate the matter and if they suspect or have evidence of anything illegal they will involve their own security branch and the police...that you can be certain of.

Are all these 'large donations' a tax scam? Why would people send donations to a charity in another country :hmmmm
Anyway on the subject of so called 'Registered' items from Ireland. I often have them turn up having been sorted with the 'normal' mail and not collected from the locker. They are treated just like Recorded items and not Specials.
