Does anyone think we might deliver the mail first, then return back to the office to do IPS and prep for the next day. Whilst drivers deliver parcels until 4pm or whenever we finish.

Not necessarily... This is nothing new to what Rico wanted... He never got it in. It isn't a foregone conclusion. Granted this seems to have taken a step further along the lines of possibilities but the business will be shooting themselves in the foot in terms or delivering products early the next day. It is pie in the sky to think we will be able to turn up them go straight out on delivery... The shareholders and powers that be will drag the senior management back if these ideas are are not beneficial to the companies potential profits

If we don't start our deliveries until after 11am. I'm sure our competitors won't mind hoovering up pre 11am delivery market.

is this a f***ing comedy sketch ? im afraid francis lives on planet lala , please come and show us how we would get out at 8am , Monday 7.25 start time , tuesday 7.45am , wednesday , thursday, friday , 7.00 am and saturday 7.19 am , so on any of them days we dont get out while after 9.15am so add another 1 hour later start time on them , it boils my piss and no wonder the company is going down the pan .

By the time Special Deliveries are processed there will around 20 minutes to go out and complete all 9am Specials in the area where I am. Aint happening.

If there's offices that won't actually start till after 9am, how will they achieve any 9am specials?

They probably won't - the list of postcodes where it's not guaranteed 9 am will probably expand massively.

You're forgetting the annualised hours premium.
These start/finish times are based around 37hrs.
December in Arbroath will be based around 44hrs.

By my reckoning that's about 8.15pm and that's If you've finished your delivery because obviously you're committed to deliver the whole thing.

I’ve still not seen the whole “committed to deliver no cut-off thing” explained adequately.

Is it that

-you get a pay rise so you have to deliver everything regardless of any other circumstance?

-annualised hours mean you owe them hours and will have to make that time up?(what happens if they owe you?)

The hours are added to your annual leave as far I'm aware.

We have a very simple process here - if there’s no one spare to go out early with the 9am SDs, the manager simply scans them as inaccessible then sends them with the regular postman’s 1pm SD who potentially then gets it in their ear from the recipient. Absolutely disgraceful way of doing things.

..and yet our Manager & DOM seem to think that we will not be delivering 'letters' in the dark, just parcels...but as we know with this place once the wheels & cogs are set in motion the 'goalposts' can and are often moved.

Our oversized are being taken off the majority of units to be delivered via hubs, so how can we be delivering just parfels in the dark. The parcels on our delivery will be smaller and delivered along with the mail as is cur ntly the case.

You should tell the recipient exactly what has happened and encourage them to put in a complaint. Give them the number for customer care.
Union rep should also be all over this. 9am specials are about £25 iirc.

I did do on the one occasion it happened to me, the recipient had been waiting at their business since 7am (they usually open at 9.30) and were not happy. I told them what my manager had said and gave them the details to put in a complaint.

Aside from their personal life arrangements, there are many people whose hours perfectly align with their tax credit arrangements.

I would explain to the customer exactly what the manager had done and advise they visit the office and have a word with said manager.

At the height of our parcel failures we had 6 Parcelforce drivers come in to clear the backlog.
The manager asked what time they were working until.
They replied that they finished when the work allocated to them was cleared. That was their normal.

I believe they are represented by the CWU as well.
