just read the letters thread, got to admit the 5 hr delivery span is a concern, some of us only work 5hrs a day so when is the break taken if this comes in, not to mention the travel to and from delivery point 1.

Including travel out / back ours is usually 6+ hrs

Have you considered not taking a meal break ? Also maybe starting an hour or so early for free ?

The way I see these changes SWW + longer delivery spans etc = more overtime = more money. Unless someone likes working for free then he should be concerned because he will be working more for free. If Royal mail returned to faffing about paying excess overtime etc we would witness some spectacular fails. Unless they will find an army of charity workers.

This is the way I see it. Unless we walk in the office to find all the parcels and letters have all been sorted and arranged for us in the back of the van ready to go I don't see how they can make a longer duty span and a SWW actually work. Do they know that a lot of these clowns I work with actually work for free by coming in early unpaid as well??

Well these working for free actually play into our hands. I mean those who doesn't matter going over and like to do overtime. They give a false illusion that job is easily achievable and more often than not can be completed before contracted time. Then come those who will not turn up half an hour early and will actually take their break and all of sudden they have to claim an hour or more and management will either pay or face failure of a walk.

All the competition workforce would come to royal mail in a heartbeat Yamr ? Different jobs pal , walking posty is a hell of a lot more physical , my skeleton is now crumbling with years of pounding the street .

good luck to those doing 5+ hour deliveries for 30 to 40 years unless there a perfect specimen glad its not me got 3 or 4 years max left in me if my
knees hold out will have done nearly 40 years on delivery by then not sure where health and safety concerns have gone by the wayside by the look of it what is the unions stance on this 4 hours 30 was there max at one time obviously couldnt give a shitt now

If we get a revision then I would be astonished. In fact, I'd go as far to say it won't happen. We were screaming out for one of those 'touch revisions' to get us help with the covid situation, but it got vetoed.
