So they have a mutual agreement then? Otherwise I would imagine one would just offer more money to RM to deliver their shitty leaflets over the other
The magazine I worked at allowed up to 3 leaflets in an issue and we had two big competitors who would book the 'space' for their leaflet. Once one customer booked the other would be told the issue was full even if it wasn't. A colleague once managed to book the two rivals into the same issue, both delivered their leaflets to the printer before the clash was noticed. One advertiser went into the booked issue and the other went into the next one at a discount - memory tells me it was possibly 50% off.

In print media before the internet days you had to be careful not to place an advert on one page and then a rival or something with a coupon on the other side of the page. Cutting out the coupon of one advert destroyed the other advert.

Regarding them offering more money, you couldn't be more wrong! They book through advertising agencies and they want the best value they can get.

The amount of time spent prepping and delivering D2Ds adds to both our indoor and outdoor hours and many of them are not getting delivered every week because there isn't the time to deliver them all to every address? This isn't something that Royal Mail wants to communicate for fear of losing business but on a national scale who else is going to deliver all these Farmfoods and Domino's leaflets?

It's a surprise to me that Royal Mail have not looked at delivering households something like every fortnight. There is a leaflet distribution service in our area and they deliver their flyers once a month. It makes sense for them to do it this way because they are able to deliver several types of flyers and only have to pay their staff for doing that one drop.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Dominoes.

Week in week out when they opened a new branch. Flimsy A5 paper folded in half which is a sod to put in the frames.
Also get ripped when you extract them from your bundle, and completely mangled on their way through the letterbox.

Good.

Design better leaflets, preferably card.

Even better, make the machinable, then we can sequence them on the machines
