It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Chairman Allan Leighton and Chief Executive Adam Crozier spelt out the challenges the business faces during a meeting with union leaders last week.

Failed to mention that Leighton didn't even bother to turn up and conducted the meeting hanging on the end of a phone (should be a rope)

They talk about the need to modernise and about competition, 10 years ago while our competitors were modernising and getting ready for the mail markets to open, the d***heads at the top of RM were changing the companies name and buying companies all over the world and selling them at a loss, wasting money all over the place with a goverment agenda to do so, and now Dumb and Dumber have panicked in the face of competition, NOT ONCE, did they say to the goverment , look you didnt pay into the pension fund for 13 years while taking 90% of the profit for 20 years, YOU F***ING PAY FOR IT, no their big idea was to borrow 1,2 billion off the goverment, part of which was to prop up our pension and the goverment asking them for cost cutting within RM for that, F***ING BORROW, were borrowing the money we gave to the goverment over 20 years, CHEEKY B***ARDS, NOT ONCE, did they fight for the mail markets not to be opened up until 2008 when they should have been opened, which would have given RM more time to invest in the company, they kept saying we are ready for competion, bring it on, if that isnt managerial incompetence then i dont know what is, and then the b***ards lay it at our door talking about savings, while at the same time patting themselves on the back and giving themselves and other managers thousands of pounds in bonuses, I THINK IM WORKING IN A F***ING NuTHOUSE, you two are totaly incompetent numbnuts, do us all a favour and F**K OFF...UNITY IS STRENGTH.
Brilliant what I have been trying to tell the numbskulls in our office for ages but have not been able to word it as well as you have. I will print it of and let them read it.

A version which is put a little more politely would be worth sending off to every MP in the country and ask them their to give their response.

TBH, serves the twats right, for being spineless, I hope they break the backs and necks, feel the struggle we have to carry every day we go out on delivery, lets hope they get 100's of special delivery and recorded letters aswel, c***s :evil/mad

They should get a union with bollocks.

I really don@t know how much longer this situation can go on, I feel that the cwu have done very little to get a clear message across to the general public as to the real situation and we don't seem to have support from other unions either. Read the above article then tell me that the cwu are dealing with this in the interests of the membership or is their a hidden agenda?

Answered your own question there F0zz - why should people doing the same job have different pay and conditions.
Local agreements get quashed if the national union decide to disgaree and go in a different direction. I recognise at the moment that this seems like a battle of good vs evil, but as with all these things neither the union exec. or RM's exec. will be seriously out of pocket over this. Frontline workers lose pay, managers end up working seriously long hours and don't get paid extra as they signed away their over time a few years back. It's a shite situation and happy to be in the telecoms sector now!

Right, coz of recent bother, I have had to bite my tongue, however I believe the CWU do have our interests at heart and are 110% committed in getting something FRESH on the table from the RM senior.... erm.... gaffers (watching what I say here folks).

If we are, as RM say 'their people', then why are they not listening to what we want?? At the end of the day, the CWU executive ARE our people coz WE elected them to their postions and are a collective bargaining force on OUR behalf and are doing a bloody good job on the campaign front and are always one step ahead of RM in the media campaign. The public are showing overwhelming support to us too coz this affects them regardless as Leighton and Crozier are effectivley damaging the publics postal service!!!!

What this has boiled down to, in personal opinion, is Allan & Adam saving what is left of their litttle reputation which is damaging they're profiles and them saving face, which is going horribly wrong for them. So I do think the union DO have our interests at heart, and the heirachy have not!!!!

At the end of the day, nearly 80% of us returned a yes vote, which means we are sick of the way we are treat and we wanted to go on strike to show protest and to get Leighton and Crozier to treat us sensibly and to give us a decent living wage and to raise the status of our part time colleagues so they can call themselves as having a decent livable wage as not rely on O/T all the time.

There's no contradiction in being a member of a union and an individual. Who negotiates your pay rise now and who did it when you belonged to the CWU? Or are you one of those "individuals" who chose not to join a union but are quite prepared to accept the pay and conditions negotiated on union members behalf?

If you are now BT then this action doesn't concern you and our fight isn't yours.
