I hate to admit it so bluntly but why would we strikers want support from anyone? In what way are the public going to support us, post an extra letter to granny. That is supporting Royal Mail, not us. How are businesses going to support us? Stick with Royal Mail even if there is a better deal elsewhere?

The only way a strike will have any effect is if unhappy businesses complain as much as possible and change their service. Royal Mail don't care if we strike permenantly, they will only do what is best for their income and the business (I hope). Hopefully they will start talking to the union before management destroy the company by pushing it's employees towards striking.

We don't want much, just some good management working to improve the business.

I was going to quote relevant sections but I am afraid your style of posting and sentence structure made that near impossible.

Sadly also your in depth knowledge of the situation we face, despite the best efforts of members is sadly lacking any insight or even a cursory understanding still I will give it go.

1. This Board is RMC - the business we work for is Royal Mail not RMC.
2. Did the Miners win did the Dockers win - depends on your view, what position you took on the strikes and what the original intentions of the strike was. Most people outside the disputes think these groups lost, those within may have a different conclusion, I do know some Miners are still proud of the stance they took.
3. Mail arriving 8,9,10, 11, or 12 - wow that shows how far out your understanding is. Current RM plans will mean mail not leaving an office to be delivered till near mid-day and some not being delivered till 4.00pm. Businesses will have to pay £3000 (the current price) to get their mail delivered earlier.
4. CWU Not fulfilling their role - Their one and only roll is to represent the workers interests - we had a ballot and the voters view was 76% thought a strike was the only option after RM had been ignoring our representations and concerns for 18 months or so.
5. Management role - If management were carrying out their role then we would not be on strike. The 2007 agreement between the 2 sides made a statement that local earning levels would be protected and changes would be agreed locally where possible, if not the IR framework would be followed. All of these RM management have ignored.
6. Independent Panel - Great Idea if RM accepted that when the Union proposed it the strikes would not even have started never mind be escalating - yet RM still refuse to have independent assessors check agreements, workloads, standards and procedures even at this late stage. We have nothing to hide and would welcome it, RM refuse.
