Re: Prioritising first class letters
Can I please ask, how are you all going to manage this?
Are you not going to out 1st class in your frame anymore? Up top with packets etc?

Re: Prioritising first class letters
Few times I've taken both tracks and over-sized and just said it was impossible to search through 3 days of mail with D2D's to find 1st class that I had no time to deliver and left it at that.

Re: Prioritising first class letters
It depends on what you are due to deliver each day, if you are due to deliver everything then there's no reason not to prep the same as we've always done, if you feel you're going to have to cut off early then keep the last column or so with your packets, if you're just doing packets then keep it all with the packets.
I just wondered how the business is going to monitor that all the 1c is being delivered, are they going to check the frames at the end of each day just to check all the 1c has been delivered as, apart from customers complaining, there seems no way for management to track that all the 1c mail is being delivered daily?

Re: Prioritising first class letters
yeah its there new way to try to convince ofcon that they have improved there delivery standards on first class mail
, so we take first class out of all the mail that isnt being delivered that day as we dont go over time so the manager said if you have to leave more in to do the first class then do that , but my point to him was the mail that has come in this morning is it due for delivery today ? as you dont know how long the second class , dsa has been sat in the mail centre so is that going down as failed then ? on both points no answer which didnt surprise us , so basically its specials , tracked parcels , 1st class letters , dsa and d2ds are bottom of the pile . so as its getting busyier and heading towards peak then we will be lucky to get 4 loops a day done out of 16 so happy days , remember its there company to destroy .

Yeah I think that they’re trying to hoodwink businesses and the general public into thinking that RM give a fook about 1st class mail, when we all know it’s the very same that you will have to bring back if you can’t complete.
Took 152 tracked, quite a few 1st class, specials , passports and two collections over two duties, all other mail left in frames and just managed to complete with hardly any time to spare, just how they like it, non stop.

You're going to reach the point eventually when some of the 2C will be due delivery anyway. How will they keep track of when a 2C item will be due for delivery anyway (when there's been no 1C items for a DP)?worktotime wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025, 19:39yeah its there new way to try to convince ofcon that they have improved there delivery standards on first class mail, so we take first class out of all the mail that isnt being delivered that day as we dont go over time so the manager said if you have to leave more in to do the first class then do that , but my point to him was the mail that has come in this morning is it due for delivery today ? as you dont know how long the second class , dsa has been sat in the mail centre so is that going down as failed then ? on both points no answer which didnt surprise us , so basically its specials , tracked parcels , 1st class letters , dsa and d2ds are bottom of the pile . so as its getting busyier and heading towards peak then we will be lucky to get 4 loops a day done out of 16 so happy days , remember its there company to destroy .

Re: Prioritising first class letters
My office fails mail spectacularly every day. We've now been told by our COM to throw 1st class letters into a separate pile on the bench rather than putting them into the frame during prep. Then we are supposed to set them up in delivery order, and use a two bundle system to either filter them into the mail we've taken out, or deliver them on their own for parts of the round that have been left in. We've also been issued with threats concerning the conduct code if they find any 1st class letters left in the frame in future.

Re: Prioritising first class letters
We got two pink banded sorting frames for the sorters to only put 1st class mail in when they do sorting in the morn, the manager then comes round and gives us all the 1st class..

Re: Prioritising first class letters
How do you do the redirections for the first class mail?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Prioritising first class letters
Duty holders usually know their established redirections well enough to put 1st class letters to be redirected into yet another pile as their prepping their delivery. Those whose delivery is thrown in for them, reserves, or the staff that management treat like dogsbodys have to check the pile of 1st class mail for each redirection as well as the stuff in the prep frame.

Re: Prioritising first class letters
Just to add, some people are waiting until the frame is fully prepped, and then inserting their pile of 1st class letters into the frame, but leaving them half sticking out so that they can see them before doing redirections. This instruction by the COM only came into effect this week, so we're still feeling our way around it. The COM has been checking the frames while we're out on delivery, and where he's found any deferred 1st class mail he's spoken to the postie with a warning that the conduct procedure may be invoked in the future.Ozzvaldo wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025, 08:06Duty holders usually know their established redirections well enough to put 1st class letters to be redirected into yet another pile as their prepping their delivery. Re: Prioritising first class letters
Same thing happens in our office. Means some people get their second class post once a week if that. Total joke things have never been this bad and about to go into Christmas chaos.Ozzvaldo wrote: ↑25 Sep 2025, 08:27Just to add, some people are waiting until the frame is fully prepped, and then inserting their pile of 1st class letters into the frame, but leaving them half sticking out so that they can see them before doing redirections. Re: Prioritising first class letters
Everything that the MC sends down to the unit is due for delivery that day. That's always been the case unless you're in a trial office. 'Streaming' was never supposed to be an accepted or official practice, and lo here we are 20 years later.worktotime wrote: ↑24 Sep 2025, 19:39but my point to him was the mail that has come in this morning is it due for delivery today ?

Re: Prioritising first class letters
I thought that everything into the office on that morning was due for delivery that day. It's all very well saying leave 2C but that mail is due that day, so when it sits there, it then becomes late. Business and people are paying for a service they aren't getting.
